UNICS Kazan put on one last effort to come back but CSKA Moscow didn’t allow it and sealed the deal with an 89-81 win in Game 3 of the VTB United league Finals.
CSKA won the series with a 3-0 sweep and has won the VTB league for the 11th time in total and the 9th time straight. Last season was canceled and no champion was named.
Daniel Hackett was named MVP of the VTB United League playoffs.
Tornike Shengelia brought extra energy to the court and led the way with 19 points on 9-12 shooting while also grabbing seven rebounds and treating the fans with a few electrifying dunks.
Will Clyburn followed with 18 and Daniel Hackett with 17 points. On the opposing side, John Brown banked in game-high 25 points but it wasn’t enough for UNICS which managed to cut the deficit from 17 (71-54) in the third quarter to just two points (77-75) in the fourth.
However, a 10-2 run by CSKA that followed as the response decided the outcome.
